Community Centers

Community centers are spaces where a community gathers and develops collective, interest-oriented activities that tend to community development. These spaces are managed and allocated by each community, and are the area for the development of community projects. In them, workshops or training projects are usually developed in various areas, such as school tutoring, meetings to reflect on problems and proposals are usually developed. Fundamentally these centers are a space of community strengthening and articulation with other communities.

Kates (La Estrella) was thought of a community center that includes a guest house, multipurpose room, bathroom, tool room and health room. In this community, a request was taken into account to work in memory and history, addressing first its own personal history.

The idea of a cultural house, in addition to providing it with instruments for Ampey (community musicians) and as a workplace in all aspects of music, is thought in more general terms, as a space for community development through workshops and school support activities.

Although the Taperigua community had already been working on the construction of a Community center, the foundation approved of supplying the materials needed for its operation. One of the goals was to make an inter-community meeting of agriculture and different training workshops.
